LOVEFiLM, Europe’s leading subscription-based film streaming and DVD rental company, has been ranked number one by online intelligence service Experian Hitwise for the Entertainment (Movies) category measuring traffic during the period July to December 2009. 

The company also scored the number four spot for its retail offering in the Shopping and Classifieds (Video and Games) sector for UK sites within the same period. 

LOVEFiLM, the UK’s largest online DVD, streaming & games entertainment service, has announced the launch of its first official iPhone app allowing members to view and manage their rental lists on the move.

Now available to download for free (see www.lovefilm.com/iphone), the app allows users to search and browse through LOVEFiLM’s choice of over 65,000 titles across DVD, Blu-ray and games and add titles to their rental lists.

LOVEFiLM, the UK’s largest online DVD & games rental service and entertainment website polled over 2,000 members on the films that got them hot under the collar to mark the launch of its limited edition Valentine’s Day rental envelopes. 

LOVEFiLM, Europe’s leading subscription-based film streaming and DVD rental company, has signed a commercial deal with the British Film Institute (BFI) allowing streaming rights to a selection of BFI titles plus the responsibility for selling its online ad inventory. 

Extending LOVEFiLM’s fast growing streaming content with the introduction of classic British documentary and feature films, existing members can now access highlights from the BFI catalogue, including Sympathy For The Devil and Distant Voices, Still Lives  for free as part of their subscription packages. 

LONDON, 4 February 2010, LOVEFiLM, Europe’s leading film and games delivery portal, has appointed Lesley Mackenzie as Group Digital Officer in charge of all digital activity across the business. 

Lesley will spearhead the growth of LOVEFiLM’s rapidly expanding streaming services. She was previously BSkyB Director of Channels and Operations for a decade, with responsibility for all television operations, management and development with third party channels on the Sky platform.  Lesley has been at the forefront of digital development and innovation in the UK, having recently been Interim Chief Executive of Kangaroo, the online joint venture project between BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
