LOVEFiLM, Europe’s largest subscription service streaming movies and TV episodes over the Internet and sending DVDs by post, is pleased to announce the appointment of Russell Morris as its new Commercial Director with immediate effect. 

Russell Morris will oversee the promotion of the latest packages available from LOVEFiLM’s expanding digital and physical portfolio such as the Watch Online service and direct-to-TV Internet enabled Sony and Samsung offering to new and existing customers. 

In addition to customer growth, Russell will be responsible for managing all sales focussed customer marketing, strategic business partnerships, product development, as well as customer retention. He will report into Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Ground. 

Russell joins LOVEFiLM from Warehouse Express Ltd, Europe’s largest photographic specialist, where he was the company’s first European Managing Director.  During his time at Warehouse Express Ltd, Russell established a new European operation from start up where he managed funding, recruitment, infrastructure creation and strategic development. 

Russell was responsible for significantly increasing the e-tailer’s visibility across eight countries.  He significantly expanded trading and profitability across European territories in just 18 months and was the driving force behind the creation of the first German website. 

Prior to this Russell worked at Sainsburys for 14 years where he held several senior roles including Director of New Business, Head of Pricing Strategy and Senior Brand Manager – Russell was responsible for the proposition, development and launch of ‘Taste the Difference.’  During his time at the company Russell also forged several lucrative business partnerships with companies across a broad range of industries, including Carphone Warehouse and EDF Energy in the UK, and Apple and Tchibo abroad. 

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Ground, Chief Commercial Officer of LOVEFiLM, said: “Russell’s success in traditional retail and eCommerce stands him in good stead to help continue LOVEFiLM’s dynamic expansion.  He has certainly made a name for himself in building brands and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”
