ONE OF UK MEDIA’S MOST INFLUENTIAL FIGURES TO BECOME NON-EXEC

LONDON, 1 June 2010, LOVEFiLM, Europe’s leading film & TV, digital and DVD rental subscription service with over 67,000 titles, announces the appointment of Dawn Airey as a non executive director.

One of the UK media industry’s most influential figures, Dawn has driven strategy, innovation and audience popularity across a number of the UK’s leading commercial broadcasters over the past two decades. Currently Chairman and Chief Executive of Five, Dawn was both the first female Chief Executive of a UK commercial TV station and one of the youngest.

Dawn returned to Five as Chief Executive in 2008 from ITV where, as Managing Director, Global Content, she oversaw its production and content businesses. Prior to ITV she was Managing Director, Channels and Services at BSkyB, Controller of Arts and Entertainment at Channel 4 and Director of Programmes at Channel 5, which led to her appointment as Chief Executive in 2000. Dawn also sits on the management board of the pan-European media group RTL, Five’s parent company. She is a member of the board of the British Library and a Trustee of The Media Trust.

Charles Gurassa, Chairman of LOVEFiLM, said,

“Dawn’s finger is right on the pulse of the entertainment industry. LOVEFiLM has grown not only to become the leading European subscription-based film and TV rental business, but now the market leader in streaming directly to PCs and internet-enabled TVs. Dawn’s counsel in the board room will be enormously helpful in driving LOVEFiLM forward in these exciting times.”

Dawn Airey, non executive director of LOVEFiLM, commented,

“LOVEFiLM’s business model has not only redefined the way people rent and watch movies in the home, its international growth and recent foray into streaming services delivered via both the PC and the TV shows that this is not a company that’s prepared to stand still. I’m thrilled to be joining the board of this entertainment industry innovator.”
