LOVEFiLM, Europe’s largest subscription service streaming movies and TV episodes over the Internet and sending DVDs by post, has partnered with Momentum Pictures to exclusively release Frozen across multiple platforms.
This is the first multi-platform collaboration between LOVEFiLM and a major studio giving members an exclusive two-week rental window to watch the film instantly online via the LOVEFiLM Player and rent the DVD or Blu-ray.
Frozen is the story of three skiers stranded on a chairlift and forced to make life-or-death choices that prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death. Highly acclaimed across the world after wowing fans from Sundance to London’s own Frightfest.
Online activity will include a site takeover, supported with digital website overlays and further genre takeovers to coincide with LOVEFiLM’s rental window of the title.
A bespoke microsite (www.lovefilm.com/frozen) will host film content during the promotion including the Frozen trailer, an integrated Facebook comments wall designed to engage members in the ‘What would you do?’ debate and the chance to reserve the film to rent or for members to watch exclusively online via the LOVEFiLM Player as part of their subscription.
Offline activity will include a special midnight screening of the film and a run of 500,000 specially branded LOVEFiLM envelopes delivered direct to members.
Senior Product Manager Adam Eldrett at Momentum commented:
“With Frozen set to become a hit in the UK, launching a multi-tiered release – for the first time via the LOVEFiLM platform – gives us the opportunity to bring movie content to film-lovers via a number of different channels. LOVEFiLM has put together a unique package and we are looking forward to the film’s special online launch before it makes a full retail debut on DVD and Blu-ray from October 18th.”
Simon Morris, Chief Marketing Officer at LOVEFiLM commented:
“This is the first time we’ve partnered with a major film studio to release a title using our entire consumer platform including DVD and Blu-ray rental, watching online and direct-to-TV through the LOVEFiLM Player – further confirming LOVEFiLM as a leading force in driving film awareness in the UK.”
