LOVEFiLM, Europe’s largest subscription service streaming movies and TV episodes over the internet and sending DVDs by post, has rolled out its groundbreaking streaming service to Germany.

In addition to LOVEFiLM’s existing online DVD and Blu-ray rental service in Germany, LOVEFiLM.de’s streaming Beta service to PC is now live. This means subscribers of LOVEFiLM.de are getting digital films streamed to their PC as part of their subscription package. Members can stream popular content from major studios as well as classic and more special interest titles from a range of other partners at no extra cost.

Simon Calver, CEO of LOVEFiLM, said: “Following the enormous success of the LOVEFiLM Player in the UK, which launched in March 2010, an international rollout of our popular subscription streaming service is very much a component of our expansion strategy. LOVEFiLM already has a growing customer base in Germany enjoying our online DVD and Blu-ray rental service, a rollout of streaming there was the natural next step.”

In line with LOVEFiLM’s digital strategy in the UK which has, in just nine months seen the LOVEFiLM Player launch on PCs, Samsung and Sony internet connected devices and, last month, PS3™, LOVEFiLM.de intends to bring access to the streaming service through as many internet connected devices as possible in Germany.

Ernst Trapp, Commercial Director of LOVEFiLM Deutschland GmbH said: “German film lovers have high expectations. We believe our unique model of range and convenience, combining DVD rental by post and streaming to as many platforms as possible, will be well received in this market. Germany deserves a better value, more convenient, customer driven film service – that’s what we’re bringing.”
